Wall Art Transformed into Wood Inlay Art
If you buy wood wall decor, especially if it is panel boards that have been jointed, there may be ways of using this panel art that you never expected.
Traditionally wall art is to be hung on walls. Yet one of those unexpected uses can be as wood inlay art.
Wood art is more flexible in application as a art medium and on a budget can still be used to make a cute house. If focused on a diy approach much will depend on what size it is including its thickness.
Also one must apply its artistic design with the function it will serve. Not all artwork will be functional in the ways I suggest nevertheless this will definitely open up ideas in your mind.
It always pays to think natural.
Wood Art Panels
Wood art panels are often planks which are jointed together to form what is called a wood canvas. The nature of this panel art allows for it to be set into other wood furnishing.
If you wish to learn how to join two boards together it is a rather simple process.

I once knew a guy who wanted to take one of my works and use it as art inlay in his dining room table.
This was achieved by removing material from the table so that the wall art would set inside the top of the table. It rest flush with the surface.
A piece of glass was then cut and placed on top. This would also work for counters or coffee tables.
Another likely place where this wood inlay art could work would be cabinet doors. Keep in mind this may be more difficult to match perfectly in dimensions.
Panel art can be custom sized for that purpose. Nevertheless depending upon the cabinetry it could be set into the sides rather than set into a door. This would provide an alternative way to provide a cabinet art accent.
Wood Panel Wall Decor
Panel art can be set into ceilings or into tile. Just keep in mind things like tile become far more permanent and removing the artwork later can potentially destroy it.
If one wanted to use wood planks on a ceiling to surround the art this can be done diy in a unique way.
It can be a beautiful addition to a kitchen as wood art but I would never recommend it for a bathroom due to humidity from the shower. Likewise its use in a floor would obviously be unwanted.

Wood panel art is durable yet a common sense approach is important to keep in mind.
Another unique location is within a door. I would not recommend a front door facing out. If the panel art is facing inside the home it would be perfectly fine.
Any other prominent door within the home would be great. This of course would require a solid wood door in order for a cut to be made for the panel art to be used as an art inlay.
The best use of wood panel wall decor is in the making of custom furniture. It is a more affordable way to apply art to furniture than an artisan being required.
There are many possibilities allowing you to have your own artistic creation within your home. These possibilities are only limited by your imagination.
No matter your choice in how the art is used in home design be sure to allow it the proper lighting needed.
While daylight can contain harmful uv light there are options. Light bulbs today offer the spectrum of sunlight without the harmful uv light.
Artists Not Carpenters
Know up front that most wood artists are not general carpenters. In other words they typically will not produce the art inlay and the cabinet or furniture as well.
If you ask to commission them do not be surprised if they tell you that they cannot accommodate the request.
Please do not be insulted no matter how much money you offer the artist. He has his own specialty and his tooling is geared towards that specialty.
A cabinet shop is tooled for cabinetry and not creating wood art. Economics and manufacturing has left a footprint of influence in this area.
Cultural Differences in Use of Wood Inlay Art
Generally speaking in the United States this kind of use of artwork is not something you will find done in the typical home. In some places of the world art inlay is done as a symbol of status and power.
The reason why is the cost behind it and letting people see that what they have did not come from the local store.

In Asia for example there are artisans which specialize in artistic furniture. While the furniture is made the art is carved into it.
Each inlay can be unique. To find someone in the United States to do this may be possible yet certainly expect to pay far beyond what you may imagine.
Utilizing wood panel art as I have suggested is a bridge between those two worlds. In the United States we have become accustomed to buying whatever marketed brand from a store.
Essentially these branded furnishings are all the same from piece to piece. Indeed they can be very nice furnishing, but it is not unique.
Quality furniture of solid wood can be further processed to allow artwork to be set into it by a skilled carpenter creating a unique accent.
While the average person does not wish to spend as much on their dining room table as their car, with creativity you do not need to.
It is an economical way to enhance your home, its furnishing, and beauty while adding your personal taste creating something unique.
Likewise the average person does not care about displaying power or status. Rather most desire a comfortable and beautiful place to create memories with your family.
