I have covered selling art online in so many formats from Etsy to private online galleries. You name it, I have talked about it. What I have not discussed are the technical parts as to why it is so hard.
How do some succeed while others fail? Better yet, how is it that some artists are seen online and others remain buried in obscurity never seeing the light of day?
Perspective in art gives special depth to a work. When used properly with Focus at a focal point in conjunction with convergence the art can gain image like appearance in scale and ratio.
This grants the ability to draw a three dimensional object on a two dimensional medium.
Content in art is one of the three basic components that is found within every work of art. In its most simple definition it is the genre, kind, or style of the art such as still life, naturalism, or figurative art.
This definition while accurate is also overly simplistic. The content must go through the composition process in order to arrive at its finished state.
A simple definition for convergence in art is where parallel lines move together closing at a point. This point is often set at the eye level of a viewer.
The point of convergence will always be on what is called the horizon line.
What Are The Best Marketing Strategies For Artists?
This is an important issue that I do not wish to lead anyone astray on. I promise you that I will not lead you down the fluff path of other materials you read.
The best marketing strategy for artists exists within a composite of different methods which come together as a whole unit.
Focus in art is better defined by the overall whole of a composition. This relates to the elements and principles of art which use subject matter in delivering the message of the artist.
A Focal Point is better defined by an area within the art content which draws the attention of the eyes. This area is often an object, subject, or convergence of objects in relation to the space within the art.
Gradation is a Principle Of Art that allows for gradual transition of color from dark to light, or light to dark. It can also be influenced by light, its color, and intensity.
At its root the primary focus is this gradual transition of color.
In the most simplistic terms, scale in art is the comparison by size of objects within the art to other objects. Scale is naturally recognized by the human eye in building associations.
If Scale in art is intended to appear natural, we gain depth, a sense of distance, and maintain natural realism within the art. This is achieved due to the relative positioning and size between objects.
Many wood products and finishing come with an expectation of a smooth wood texture. When a project is complete some can feel as slick as glass.
Is this always desired or wanted? How smooth should the wood texture be? While there is no universal answer for this, there are guidelines one can follow.
